Job DescriptionA Senior Business Analyst will use various financial analysis, financial engineering, business analysis, and data analysis skills to provide the basis for the creation and maintenance of decision-support systems and other business applications, based primarily in Microsoft technologies. They will normally work in a small team, partnering with a Technical lead, and under a Solutions Architect.
Major Responsibilities:
- Consulting Skills: Ability to engage and listen to clients, developing ideas into executable business and technical solutions; Ensuring delivery matches sales efforts for consistently high customer satisfaction.
- Business Expertise: Comfortable with business fundamentals including financials (eg. pricing, cost & margin analyses), logistics/supply chain (eg. purchasing, inventory management, lean concepts), marketing (eg. campaign management). The successful candidate for this position would be someone who has modeled pricing strategies, product launches, and supply chain scenarios. Marketing-oriented analyses are also highly applicable to this position.
- Technology Expertise: Awareness and experience in Microsoft technologies including SQL Server 2005, MS Access, MS Excel, and .NET Windows Forms. OPS supports efforts to keep your expertise cutting edge through training, memberships, and materials as available.
- Project Management: Senior Business Analysts are involved in all phases of projects, from initial definition, to scoping and budgeting, to execution and closeout. They have a key role in supporting overall project management goal in earned value management (EVM), budget management, and schedule management.
- People Management: Supervision and mentoring of Junior Analysts.
- Individual Contributor: Develop an area of technical or other relevant subject matter expertise with proven value to the mission of OPS.

- Business development: Senior Business Analysts proactively identify areas where OPS can further our clients\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\' success.
- Methodology and toolkit development: OPS consistently performs high-quality technical work, supported by strong software development processes, knowledge transfer and knowledge management practices, and intelligent reuse of analytical and development frameworks. The Senior Business Analyst is expected to identify areas for improvement, and to add to the body of knowledge available to OPS staff.
Typical Project ResponsibilitiesThe following are some typical project responsibilities of a Senior Business Analyst:
- Use of analytical tools within a consulting project life-cycle: Problem identification and scoping; Proposal preparation and delivery; Project management and execution
- Client service focus: cost recovery, margin optimization, and process enhancement. This involves identifying existing problems and rapidly identifying workable solutions.
- Comfort in working with diverse project teams which include other OPS staff and client staff.
- Lead in communication, organization, and being deliverable-focused.
- Testing and application verification meetings with senior OPS staff.
- Involvement in the deployment applications to production following OPS and client procedures for change control, source code repository (we use Subversion), implementation testing, etc.
- Support the application and incorporate user feedback into planning for the next release.
- Business and function requirements documentation creation and review.

- Ability to write clearly, to create business requirements and functional requirements documentation
- Demonstrated organizational skills, follow-through, and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks under pressure of deadline
- Project Management awareness, and manage and coordinate task completion for small teams (PMI certification preferred)
- Ability to work professionally and effectively with all levels of clients.
- Experience in working directly with large volumes of data and advanced skills with relevant tools and languages.
- Knowledge of relational data models, data modeling, database programming, and SQL
- Experience in corporate environments performing financial, logistic, and marketing analyses and modeling.
Secondary Qualifications- Other RDBMS experience (Oracle, DB2, Sybase)
- Web application project experience (ASP classic, ASP.Net, PHP, JSP)
