Job Description

Solution Architects at Organon Professional Services must be an overall solution visionary with both technology and business expertise. They are comfortable working on-site in a client-oriented, professional services environment, where the primary goal is to develop and implement feasible solutions to complex business issues. Solution Architects at OPS are assigned to client organizations for an extended period of time, in order to develop a thorough understanding of the client\\\\\\\'s needs and environment. They are primarily responsible for project formulation and delivery, overseeing analytical and technical team members.

Major Responsibilities:
- Consulting Skills: Ability to engage and listen to clients, developing ideas into executable business solutions; Ensuring delivery matches sales efforts for consistently high customer satisfaction.
- Technology Expertise: Understanding of client/server technologies, software development practices and dynamics, and understand how organizations effectively manage their technology portfolio. OPS supports efforts to keep your expertise cutting edge through training, memberships, and materials as available.
- Business Expertise: Comfortable with business fundamentals including financials (eg. pricing, cost & margin analyses), logistics/supply chain (eg. purchasing, inventory management, lean concepts), marketing (eg. campaign management).
- Project Management: Solution Architects are involved in all phases of projects, from initial definition, to scoping and budgeting, to execution and closeout. They must have excellent written and oral communication skills and must be comfortable creating presentations for upper level management. Project management skills must include use of earned value management (EVM), budget management, schedule management and other analytical skills of project management as necessary.
- People Management: Solution Architects supervise a team of developers and analysts. They provide mentoring, counsel career-advancement, training, and providing input for performance review and bonus calculations.
- Individual Contributor: Based on an area of technical or other relevant subject matter expertise with proven value to the mission of OPS.

Other Responsibilities:
- Business development - OPS Solutions Architects prepare technical proposals for new projects, and proactively identify areas where OPS can further our clients\\\\\\\' success.
- Methodology and toolkit development - OPS consistently performs high-quality technical work, supported by strong software development processes, knowledge transfer and knowledge management practices, and intelligent reuse of analytical and development frameworks. The Solutions Architect is expected to identify areas for improvement, and to add to the body of knowledge available to OPS staff.

Typical Project Responsibilities

The following are some typical projects that Solution Architects at OPS manage:
- Data-mining and analysis projects: Typically in the areas of supply chain metrics, such as sales, inventory history, and purchase orders. The Solutions Architect\\\\\\\'s strong SQL and analytical skills are used to design the project, and either perform the work or supervise OPS Analysts who perform the work.
- Decision support application development: The Solution Architect supports a structured software development process, including requirements gathering, review of code, integrated testing, UAT, migration and deployment planning, and implementation. These applications may be in relatively informal environments, but more usually are in change controlled environments, and commonly have Sarbanes-Oxley related requirements for auditing, documentation, and separation of duties.
- Technology Selection: The Solutions Architect evaluates new technology, using objective criteria and knowledge of client processes and personnel. This can include prototyping, feasibility studies, evaluation of integration requirements, and interviewing vendor sales engineers and client technical experts.
- Data Warehousing/Analytical Solutions: The Solution Architect identifies sources of data and ETL processes required to import them, and designs the architecture of the data warehouse to support the reporting and operational needs of the project. He or she manages creation of reporting portals and specific reports built against the data warehouse.
- Client Technology Support: The Solution Architect supports OPS\\\\\\\' clients by providing high-impact services such as strategic planning, input to change management, cost-benefit analyses, best practice assessments, technology audits, training for client staff, job design, hiring support, and business process reengineering.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements (Please do not apply if you do not meet all of these criteria):
- Expert skill set in the following Microsoft technologies (certification preferred);
-SQL Server (SSRS and SSIS)
-.Net Programming (using c#, vb.net and Windows Forms/Windows Presentation Foundation)
-SharePoint
-Silverlight
- A minimum of 5 years of work as a Consultant (Healthcare/Pharma/Life Sciences preferred)
- Advanced degree or MBA
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Demonstrated organizational skills, follow-through, and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks under pressure of deadline
- Ability to organize a project into tasks, delegate the tasks to members of a project team, and manage and coordinate task completion (PMI certification preferred)
- Ability to work professionally and effectively with all levels of clients.
- Ability to architect, design and develop business intelligence and data warehousing solutions, including decision support systems, executive dashboards and portals.
- Expert-level proficiency in SQL and ETL tools.
